Antonine PP table lamp

The Antonine PP table lamp is based on a Roman marble vase with handles in the shape of intertwined snakes (second half of the 2nd century). The original vase, which is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is the finest and best-preserved example of this type of vessel, with its body decorated with “S”-shaped reliefs. Snakes, which have their mouths attached to the rim, were known as guardians of the underworld in Greek and Roman mythology, protectors of sacred places, houses and tombs. The antique marble effect and soft, linen-blend lampshade create a perfect balance between classic and contemporary style.
